Freedom must always be renegotiated. My Manifesto of Freedom of Action with its total of eighteen statements forms the framework and score for this project. Thus, this publication sees itself as a workbook, as a momentary substrate of contributions that have responded to my invitation to renegotiate the manifesto and rethink it argumentatively. The contributions do not follow a stringent sequence, nor do they build on each other. What holds the book together is the manifesto, which is wrapped around the cover of this publication. This dust jacket is also a poster and invites us to get detached from the book in order to become involved in new, common actions. For this publication, I invited people I have met over the past three years: in Russia and Greece, in Switzerland. I asked them to enter into a dialogue with me about the concept of freedom, based on this manifesto. The eighteen contributions are framed by two other texts: Eva Maria Knuesel explores the question of the manifesto and relates this to individual contributions. In her text, Irene Mueller reflects on the concept of encounter and the possible risks that can arise when fear is no longer understood as a potential danger but as an invitation – which entails a certain unpredictability. All these responses – again, invitations to very practical, playful, and challenging prompts and questions – I share here in book form. To all readers. As an invitation to – Common Actions.
