Performance "Silence"

"Ana Vujic – Sources of Uncertainty"

"SILENCE" - A personal, poetic and questioning journey through speechlessness, vulnerability and a transgenerational, marginalised history, accompanied by life-sized black wings – a metaphor for the feeling of being cut off from the elemental ability to fly.
Silence asks about the conditions under which language can be found again, vulnerability can be embraced, and transformative processes can become possible within a sense of togetherness.
The performance moves between Vulner_Ability, femininity, resistance and rest – and the question of whether resistance might begin where the struggle against one’s own body ends.

SMELL WALKS IN SWITZERLAND

part of the Research Project "THE SMELL OF SWITZERLAND" by Prof. Dr. Dorothée King, FHNW Basel, Department Art and Education - A transdisciplinary Travel of Concepts commenting on Othering and sensing of Communities through Smell

In her research, Dorothée King explores smell as a sensory and political medium through which memory, migration and belonging in Switzerland can be investigated. Following an encounter with my olfactory public art intervention SchmerZH, she invited me to collaborate on her research.
From this collaboration, I developed a series of Smell Scores and four Smell Walks across Switzerland — sensory walks that use breathing and smell to explore the historical, social and political layers embedded in specific places. the smell scores will soon be published online.
The research will be published in book form in 2027. I am very happy about this fruitful collaboration with Dorothée King and the dialogue between our different research practices.

On Monday, 21 September 2026 at 18:00, Dorothée King and I will present the research project and the Smell Walks as part of a public lecture series at FHNW in Basel.

AUDIO GUIDED TOUR THROUGH ZURICH BY KIÖR:

Wessen Blick, wessen Kunst?» – dies ist der Titel der neuen Audioguide-Tour, die die Fachstelle Kunst im öffentlichen Raum (KiöR) Stadt Zürich gemeinsam mit dem Frauenstadtrundgang Zürich entwickelt hat.

Die Tour führt zu Kunstwerken im Zürcher Stadtraum und eröffnet neue Perspektiven auf bekannte Werke. Sie erzählt von den Frauen hinter den Kunstwerken, fragt nach Sichtbarkeit und den Geschichten, die im öffentlichen Raum oft unerzählt bleiben. Die einzelnen Stationen werden von Frauen eingesprochen, die den öffentlichen Raum heute selbst mitgestalten, etwa als Künstlerinnen, Architektinnen oder Politikerinnen.

Ich durfte den Beitrag zu der Bronze von Ida Schaer-Krause sprechen.

Throwback: In 2022, Julia Foster, together with Alan Alpenfelt and me, we were selected by Pro Helvetia for "My North is your South", a cross-border project aimed at connecting artists from Switzerland and the MENA states. At its core were exchanges about colonial narratives, the European fear-image of the Arab world, and the question of what responsibility artists carry toward society. Themes that still occupy me today. For various reasons, the project was ultimately not realised in its originally planned form.
