Fragile Tensions

Thoughts on fragility and resilience within social relationships.

The following sculptures are to be understood as studies in which fragility is not only conceptually explored, but also materialised. They translate thoughts about instability, tension and vulnerability into an aesthetic language that traces the properties of the material as well as the subtle dynamics of interpersonal relationships.

Fragile materials are transformed into space-defining sculptures reminiscent of skins – in colour, materiality and structure. Interwoven with seams and stitches, they fold, open and create tension. Amorphous forms emerge, containers in space that appear almost human – not in their expression, but in their feel, their vulnerability, their physical presence.
