Common Actions ist eine lose fotografische Serie, in der ich Menschen einlade, mit mir in Kollaboration zu treten, um Wissen und Erfahrung zu teilen und dies in eine Form der künstlerischen Strategie und Aestethik zu bringen. Meine persönliche, aber auch politische und philosophische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Konzept der Freiheit fliesst in diese Serie mit ein. Die Idee der Geste und des Gemeinsamen, und wie Freiheit und Sprache zusammen ein drittes Feld sein können, bildet für mich eine aktive Handlung, um politische wie soziale Räume gemeinsam zu öffnen und zu ertasten. Nicht nur oberflächlich, sondern konkret einander Raum geben, etwas gemeinsam tun, miteinander austauschen, miteinander erschaffen – dies hat irgendwie etwas Revolutionäres.

Common Actions is a loose photographic series in which I invite people to collaborate with me, to share knowledge and experience and to bring this into a form of artistic strategy and aesthetics. My personal, but also political and philosophical exploration of the concept of freedom flows into this series. The idea of gesture and commonality, and how freedom and language together can be a third field, forms an active plot for me to open up and feel out political as well as social spaces together. Not just superficially, but concretely giving each other space, doing something together, exchanging with each other, creating with each other – this somehow has something revolutionary about it.

Dieses performative Projekt war der zweite Teil in meiner Reihe zum Thema persönliche Handlungsfreiheit mit Bezugnahme zu Hanna Arendt‘s Essay „Die Freiheit, frei zu sein“. Für diesen zweiten Teil stellte ich ein persönliches Statement der Freiheit auf, was auf Kostümen, die ich speziell für diese Performance kreiert habe, zelebriert wurde. Zwei Tänzerinnen trugen dieses Statement und enthüllten es während der performativen Promenade durch die Strassen von Neo Ionia, einem Stadtteil Athens. Philosophisch gesehen verweisen die Kostüme auf den kleinsten Raum, die sogenannte Hülle oder das Substrat, das meine Gedanken zum Thema Handlungsfreiheit zusammenfasst und in eine sehr vereinfachte Sprache fasst.

This performative project was the second part in my series on the theme of personal freedom of action with reference to Hanna Arendt’s essay „The freedom to be free“. For this second part, I set up a personal statement of freedom, which was celebrated on costumes I created especially for this performance. Two dancers wore this statement and revealed it during the performative promenade through the streets of Neo Ionia, a district of Athens. Philosophically, the costumes refer to the smallest space, the so-called shell or substrate, which summarises my thoughts on the subject of freedom of action and puts them into a very simplified language.
